⚠️ WARNING: Phishing Attack Targeting HostAfrica Clients

On this page

Scammers are sending fake emails pretending to be HostAfrica (info@hostafrica.com). These emails contain a link to a fake PayFast payment page designed to steal your credit card details.

How to Identify This Phishing Scam:

Check the Sender’s Email Address

The phishing email may appear to come from HostAfrica, but on closer inspection, the sender’s email is from a different domain (e.g., hostafrica-pay.com, billing-hostafrica.net). Always verify that emails come from an official HostAfrica address: @hostafrica.com. If an email seems suspicious, do not reply or click any links—contact our support team instead.

Fake Payment Requests for “Domain Expiration”

The email falsely claims your domain is about to expire and requires urgent payment. HostAfrica NEVER sends direct payment links for domain renewals. All invoices and payments are managed ONLY through our client portal: To keep your data safe, never use a payment link sent directly to your inbox. If you need to check an invoice or settle an account, always navigate directly to our secure HostAfrica client portal by typing the address yourself or using a trusted bookmark.

The email includes a fraudulent PayFast link leading to a fake payment page. Scammers often use URLs that look nearly identical to the real thing to trick you into lowering your guard. Before entering any details, verify that you are on the official PayFast website and not a fraudulent imitation.

Never click on payment links in emails—always log in to your HostAfrica portal to manage payments.

Fake Website with Stolen Branding

The phishing page looks like PayFast’s real site but is designed to steal your credit card details. Check the website URL carefully. If it's not 'https://www.payfast.co.za', do NOT enter any payment details! Urgent or Threatening Messages Scammers try to create panic with messages like: ❌ “Your domain will be suspended if payment is not received.” ❌ “Your domain is expiring today – renew now!” ❌ “Final warning: Your website will go offline.” HostAfrica will NEVER demand immediate payment via email. Always verify invoices in your client portal. 🚨 What to Do If You Receive This Email? ✅ Do NOT click any links in the email. ✅ Do NOT enter any payment details. ✅ Check the sender’s email address carefully. ✅ Report the email to us at support@hostafrica.com. ✅ Delete the email immediately.

How to Protect Yourself:

Always verify the sender’s email address before taking action. We recommend making it a habit to ignore all links in unexpected billing emails. For 100% peace of mind, only manage your domain renewals and payments by choosing to log in to your HostAfrica account through our official site. Check website URLs carefully before entering any information. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security. If you entered your credit card details, contact your bank immediately to report potential fraud. ⚠️ Stay alert! Scammers frequently use domain expiration warnings and fake invoices to trick victims. When in doubt, contact HostAfrica support directly.
