How to Install WordPress on an Addon Domain

WordPress is an excellent place to start if you’re looking for a content management system for your blog or website. Not only does it have a variety of features that you can advantage of, but it’s easy to install WordPress, making it one of the most preferred website builders.

In this tutorial, our goal is to offer a complete WordPress installation tutorial for your addon domain on the cPanel. If you are not familiar with addon domains, this cPanel guide covers everything you need to know about creating and managing addon domains.

After you have created your addon domain on cPanel, follow this step by step process to install WordPress.

In this guide, we will use the one-click installation method using Softaculous.

1. Login to your cPanel account and search for the Software section. Open the Softaculous Apps Installer icon.

• Click on the WordPress icon to install it. You can use the search tab or navigation panel to find WordPress.
• On the next page, you will see the WordPress platform overview and the size of the software. Click on the Install button.

• Choose Protocol.Since we offer a free SSL certificate, you can use HTTPS instead of HTTP in your site’s protocol.
• Choose Domain. From the drop-down menu, make sure that you select the addon domain.

• Fill in the Directory. After you create an addon domain, a folder with your domain name gets added to the public_html directory, so enter the name in the directory folder to install WordPress.
• The last section consists of the Site Settings. Other details you will be required to fill in the page include a site name and a tagline. If you are not sure yet, you can skip and do it later. You will also need to set the language, your admin username, and the password. In advanced options, you can configure as desired backup options or automatic updates.

• Click the Install tab. Softaculous will include a link where you can log in to your new WordPress Dashboard.

The process for installing WordPress on an addon domain is very similar to installing it on your primary domain name. However, when installing it on an addon domain, you need to select the addon domain and fill in its folder name. If you leave the directory field empty, it will install WordPress in the public_html or root directory of your primary domain’s folder.
