Zuckerberg Enables Instagram ‘DM’ & ‘Mention’ Button on Threads
The Threads social media platform, owned by Meta and led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, is undergoing changes to maintain its popularity. These updates aim to enhance the appeal and utility of Threads for users in Kenya and around the world.
Threads users can now effortlessly share their posts through Instagram’s direct messages, streamlining the connection between Threads and Instagram. To access Threads, you’ll need to create an account via Instagram.
Additionally, Threads empowers users to craft their own descriptions for photos and videos. Previously, these descriptions were automated by computers, but now you can personalize them, making your posts more distinctive and comprehensible.
Another exciting update allows you to mention other users in your posts, akin to tagging someone. This requested feature enables you to celebrate birthdays, give shoutouts, and engage with others more easily.

Apart from these changes, Threads simplifies organizing followed accounts. You can sort them by default, latest posts first, or oldest posts first. The platform also offers the ability to review posts you liked during the previous week via your settings and “Your likes” section.
While Threads initially gained rapid popularity, it faced challenges in maintaining user engagement. Many users were unsure about effective usage. To address this, Threads plans to launch a desktop version, potentially attracting more users.
Although these updates are promising, some suggest they should have been included from the outset. Threads is actively working to remain relevant in the social media landscape. The impact of these changes on its future success remains to be seen.
