New Launch: Newspack by WordPress.com— A New Publishing Solution for News Organizations

Automattic Inc, the parent company of WordPress.com, is joining with other news industry leaders to develop an advanced open-source publishing and revenue-generating platform for news organizations. This is a first of its kind, cost-effective solutions aimed at addressing some of the recurrent obstructions in the Journalism Industry to create economically sustainable models. The system is meant to provide the best editorial and business practices.

WordPress is currently hosting sites for most trusted and well-known bloggers, reporters, news sites and individuals in the journalism industry. Their main target is small-and medium-sized news organizations. The project is set to commence towards the end of July, with the invitation of the pilot project participation already underway.
